The MacGillivray clan can trace their ancestry back to the early medieval age and are a Highland clan. The name is a derivation of the Gaelic for "son of the servant of judgement." Historically, the MacGillivray's were part of an ancient confederation which included several other clans. The MacGillivray's were known for their fierce loyalty and martial prowess, notably fighting in the Battle of Culloden in 1746, where their leader was killed. The clan's familial lands were mainly in the Inverness-shire region. Despite the dispersion and hardships following the defeat at Culloden, the MacGillivray name remains, symbolizing a rich heritage and resilient spirit.
