Design Your Own Recycled Leather Board
Recycled leather board is thick and stiff, making it perfect for craft projects, the interiors of footwear, and leather crafting. It has a white base tone making it ideal for custom prints of your designs. A unique canvas for your art, 100% real leather printing created a beautiful finished piece, and gives you the satisfaction that you are doing your bit to reduce leather waste.
Surface textures
The face of the recycled leather board is slightly textured with a matte finish. The reverse has a much rougher texture. When folded reverse side to reverse side the leather board is completely crease free and anti-wrinkle. When folded face to face there is low-creasing, and some wrinkling will appear, however as this is a stiff material it is quite difficult to fold completely.
Print detail
Details and colors are printed beautifully, and the surface texture of the recycled leather board gives your designs that extra personality and charm. Fine lines are printed sharply and accurately, pinpoint precision such as tiny spots may be affected by the textured grain.
Usage
Recycled leather board, printed with your custom design is great for crafting, for using in the soles of shoes and also for leather crafts. It is thick and sturdy as well as being rub proof and hard wearing. Exactly what you need for such usages.
Frequently asked questions on Leather Board 0.08":
What is recycled leather?
In the same way that you can use your old leather sofa cushion covers to make a bag, all leather is recyclable. Recycled leather is a great way to reduce waste. It is not only made up of re-purposed items and garments, but often leather scraps from tanneries, which reduces waste from the factories too.
How big can I print my leather board?
The recycled leather board can be printed in sheets of up to 39.37" x 55.12". This is quite a large area at nearly a meter by a meter and a half, and opens up a world of possibilities of what you could use it for.
Why recycle leather?
The Europeans industry, just in footwear alone creates in excess of 1,000,000,000 pairs of shoes, boots, slippers and other footwear every single year. This creates and estimate 100,000 tonnes of leather waste, which either goes to landfill or is incinerated. By re-purposing this leather and by designing and using this leather, we are each doing our bit to reduce that.
You have the amazing designs, but do you have the amazing place to sell?
All you have to do is design what you love and we bring your creations to life. We take care of the hand crafting and manufacture, the sales and the shipping. You the designer, control the products and designs from wherever you are, from home, the office, even on the go. Meanwhile the orders start to roll in and you get commissions fast.
Print Guideline
What's the best resolution to print in?
We print at 200dpi, which is a good combination of quality and file weight. Ideally your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi; this means that no resizing of your file occurs, preventing any interpolation.
Should I save my file as a TIFF or JPEG?
For multi-colored or very detailed files we recommend using a tiff format, but they must be flattened. For simple colors and low detail files, a jpeg is fine.
Which color model should I choose? RGB or CMYK?
We advise providing images in the RGB color space. Specifically using the sRGB image profile, to achieve best color results. What does this mean? In your editing software, choose RGB as the working space and assign the image profile as sRGB (full name sRGB IEC61966-2.1)
Maximum dimensions
The maximum dimensions of the leather will depend on the type of leather. You will find more information on each leather product page. If you'd like to order more, you can increase the quantity, with a built in automatic volume discount too. The maximum print width of each leather can be found on the individual leather pages or in our design interface.
Do I need to incorporate white space within my design if I want a border or some cutting space?
Yes, that might help you! Always incorporate any extra space or boarders into your purchased fabric size. We trim squarely around fabric samples and fabric prints, leaving approximately 5mm white space. Cutting neatly on the line has an additional fee.
Do you print on leather a customer supplies?
Unfortunately not; we like to test meticulously so that we know what gets best results on our materials, and our facilities cater perfectly to them.
What is the situation with material shrinkage?
As we use the newest printing technology for printing on leather, there is no shrinkage with the the material during our processing at all.

Can I print on both sides of the leather?
Unfortunately, we do not offer printing on both sides of the leather.
Can I order swing tags in another leather? Will you cut them like you do with the normal leather swing tags?
At the moment no, our swing tags are all printed on the same nappa leather. We may introduce more in the future, but for now this is the best choice. The swing tags are all cut the same way. You can order the leather of your choice and make the swing tags yourself, but we do not cut different leather into swing tag format.
How Would you Like the Edge?
We have two finishing options for your fabric order:
- As it comes. We cut around your image, leaving a simply scissor cut, perhaps uneven white fabric border.
- Cut on the line. We will cut neatly on the edge of your image. Please be aware, when we cut along the line, we have to cut against the grain of the material. This is the standard procedure for fabric cutting.
All of our fabrics are cut manually by hand, with the utmost care and attention. If your fabric has a slightly uneven look on the
edges, or a touch of fraying, this does not indicate a flaw in the textile. It is not always possible to achieve a perfect straight cut with certain fabrics, so please do bear this in mind when it comes to your design. If you have any queries or would like to know about our cutting methods in more detail, please get in touch and we will be more than happy to discuss them with you.
Please note: As we make everything by hand, all sizes may vary slightly.
Not suitable for children’s toys or pet products, due to risk of ink being forcefully removed and ingested.
